Fancy Nancy likes to use fancy words, so when she gets to write a book report, she chooses one with the fancy name of Sacajawea. Nancy spends most of her time creating a dazzling book report cover that reflects her artistic talent. After all, she is the second-best artist in her class. Writing two sentences is all she can muster before she falls asleep. Crestfallen, she admits to her teacher her error in spending too much time on the cover. Her teacher becomes her heroine when she asks Nancy to tell the class about the heroine, Sacajawea.

This story is a learning lesson about time management with a tiny bit of history. The colorful illustrations are bright and fun, and defining the fancy words within the story was a great idea.

My Review:

This book was filled with questions, heartache, angst, such mixed feelings. It took me back to when I was a teenage girl from a broken home myself. I knew who my mother was, knew her, but was not raised by her. 

Mackenzie's situation was different but still I remembered some of the questions and actually felt some of the angst that she goes through. 

Author Amber Garza's style of writing in this book was awesome. I read the book within a three day span. 

Her characters were believable, down to earth, also in to real life situations. Not to many people really believe in good and evil, God or Satan. Or that you have a choice to choose between the two. I do. 

Mackenzie being seventeen and feeling like she really doesn't have any one to turn to puts her into a situation that has her questioning what is real and what is not. If her father knew about her or not. Even if he did why didn't he care enough to know her at all. Then if that was not enough to handle being a teenager, she also has had to pretty much raise herself and now that she is older she is being shipped off to spend the summer with a grandmother that she hasn't seen in a long time. 

So since I was able to get into the story line right away, could not put it down, characters were believable I am going to give this book my breath of life rating of:

Stepping Out on Faith

The fear of not being able to live up to others expectations of me, including family at times, has been one of my life long fears. I have always been able to talk to anyone, didn't matter who they were or what positions they may hold. But have never really had confidence in myself. Now I'm not talking about boosting or having my nose up in the air, kind of confidence. I am saying I have always felt inferior, and that has some times played a part in my depression. I tend to over think issues. And then put myself down. I have prayed concerning these things, but through the last few years I have learned to talk to the Lord and then LISTEN to HIS Ways. It has not always been easy, but it is a work in progress.


I have started reading "The New Spirit-Controlled Woman" by Beverly LaHaye A Great book.... Give it a chance and let it speak to you. So far I am relating to it a lot.


So Second step is to pray for the Filling of the Holy Ghost -- Fully surrender to Him. Praying for wisdom and strength to use that which the Lord gives you. Give the Holy Ghost full control. The fear of not being good enough and anxieties that had and sometimes still have is not from the Lord.
2 Timothy 1:7 states, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

God's desire is that our prayers not be hindered, that it not be a struggle for us to pray.

Well, as Douglas Adams notes, ”although it is excruciatingly rich, horrifyingly sunny and more full of wonderfully exciting people than a pomegranate is of pips, it can hardly be insignificant that when a recent edition of Playbeing Magazine headlined an article with the words, ‘When you are tired of Ursa Minor Beta you are tired of life,’ the suicide rate there quadrupled overnight.” Yikes. So sort of like Beverly Hills, then?

Miranda

Miranda might have been sort of a nice place when it was first terriformed by the Alliance in Firefly and Serenity. But then the government decided to experiment with a chemical that was supposed to curb aggression in the planet’s population. What it did instead was make almost everyone so docile that they all stopped moving and slowly died of, well, all the things you die of when you can’t even make the effort to turn your head slightly. The people who weren’t “almost everyone?” They became horrifying monsters who mutilated themselves and raped, killed, and skinned people across the galaxy for no good reason. Not a fun time for anybody, if you ask us.

Tatooine

Sure, the double sunset must be nice to look at, but you know what two suns means? It’s twice as hot. That’s why the whole planet’s a desert. Seriously, it’s so hot that people have to harvest moisture on farms. Also, slavery is legal, anybody can shoot anyone else they feel like (which is fine when it’s Han shooting Greedo, but not when it’s someone shooting you), and then there are the Sarlaac pits!

For the uninitiated, Arrakis from Dune is like Tatooine in that the weather is impossibly oppressive, to the point where there is no naturally occurring precipitation – water has to be imported. Also, GIANT SAND WORMS. The only reason anybody lives on it at all is to harvest Melange, a drug that can increase the life span of its user. You know what? If we had to live on a planet filled with sand worms for the rest of our unnaturally long lives, we’d rather just die young, thanks.
